My Drawing & Talking Journey

I trained as a Drawing & Talking Practitioner in 2019. I initially used the technique to support pupils in schools that I worked in. In 2021 as we came out of the pandemic lockdowns, I provided a pro-bono service to both adults and children through my local church community before moving on to formally start the business in 2022 because I had witnessed the power of this intervention and seen how it had lifted people's lives.

The business was born in February 2022, with my first paid clients in June of that year.
If I compare client volumes from October 2022 to October 2023, I know see five times as many clients each week as I did a year ago.  This confirms there is a great need for this kind of support, and my business growth is down to great testimonials and recommendations from previous clients, for which I am extremely grateful.

Drawing and Talking is a 1-2-1 therapeutic intervention.

It allows time and space to process and deal with emotional trauma in a safe way.

Drawing allows the deeper part of the brain to be involved, especially the right-hand side of the brain where powerful emotional memories are stored visually.

This intervention is offered in many schools but is also effective for adults experiencing the difficulties of un-processed trauma.

In September 2023, I upskilled and completed the Advanced Knowledge in Drawing & Talking Therapy training, so I am now pleased to offer 1-2-1 sand tray D&T and two different D&T groupwork techniques.

Drawing and Talking is a tier one/two therapeutic intervention based on Jungian play therapy ideology and deeply rooted in attachment theory.

All About Me

I am a Former Teaching Assistant with particular experience in SEND, including ASC
and a Parent of two ASC young adults at very different ends of the spectrum.
This means I understand many of the emotional difficulties children experience & how to interact with them, the kind of reasonable adjustments that may be required and how hard parents have to fight for the support their children need.

I am also passionate about supporting the family members of individuals with a life-long condition, disability or who have experienced life-changing injuries.  There is an element of grieving for "what might have been" and a shift of mindset required, to enable life to progress and new dreams to be dreamed.
